Higher Education Update from LAICU
• Our campuses are committed to continuity of education and as such they are set for summer school and in planning with safety and education in mind for the Fall.
• Summer – All academic courses remain on line with some small labs in person at our 4-year campuses. In person classes for limited career and technical courses and small labs are available this summer through LCTCS with social distancing and all appropriate PPE and sanitization.
• Fall – systems and campuses are planning for both in person or on line or combination of both. Campuses are actively walking through all safety protocols needed with support from OPH.
LA Community & Technical College System (LCTCS)
• Career Technical Education in person this Summer w/ Social Distancing
• Using large Gen. Ed. Classrooms with small class sizes
• Ochsner contract - Temp Checks, testing & PPE distribution in parking lots
South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) and Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC)
• Starting planning today.
LSU
• Online for summer
• All Summer Camps Canceled or online
• LSUHSC providing in person classes were required
• 25% of staff returning on campus Monday including research faculty
University of Louisiana System
• Online for summer with limited in-person labs of 10 or less with social distancing
• 25% of staff returning on campus Monday
Southern System
• Online for summer
• Summer Camps cancelled
• 25% staff returning on campus Monday
Fall Preparations:
• All plan to announce their FALL plans the first week of June
• Most system/campuses planning for in-person return for students in fall starting on-time
• Starting on time or late starts under consideration
• Short semester that starts on time and ends before Thanksgiving also under consideration at some campuses
• LCTCS will have rolling starts for courses beginning in July
